For no special reason I watched two films on Saturday. The first film I watched was about Notorious In short the film shows the rise and fall of one of the greatest rappers of all time.

Late at night Al Pachinos Scarface a cuban with great ambitions of becoming the biggest mafia boss in Miami. Throughout the film he manages to realise his dreams, but soon finds out that it was the pursuit of the dream that was the fun part.

They are both true blooded entrepreneurs that started practicing and learning their skills at an early age. According to Malcom Gladwell´s book “Outliers – The Story of Success” it takes on average 10 000 hours to become very good at something. (I recommend reading this book.) This is as true for Biggie Smalls as it was for Bill Gates in their journey towards success.

Its about the race, not the finish line…
This is best expressed in Scarface in the last 10 minutes of the film when Al Pachino is just sitting numbed in his chair dipping his whole face in coke. Fair enough he just shot his best friend, but he is bored. He reached his finish line. I think as an entrepreneur you have to love the process of learning, failing, trying again, succeeding, then failing and so on and so forth. My first three years can be compared with a baby learning to walk for the first time. This doesn´t mean im not working hard to reach my goals. What im saying is that im making the most of enjoying everyday in the pursuit of my goals because when i reach my ultimate goal I dont think its going to be as enjoyable as the journey in getting there.

Love the process
